Natural Doctors International was created in 2003 as an avenue for naturopathic service in underserved areas around the world. NDI is recognized as the first organization of its kind in the naturopathic profession, serving as a “Doctors Without Borders” for naturopathic doctors (NDs).

How did you decide on this profession?
Peter and Pina: We each decided individually. Pina: I’d always wanted to be a doctor. I was studying for the MCAT, a little stressed out, and went to a massage therapist.

7. Naturopathic Research Activities


The activities of the Bastyr University Research Institute are devoted to the evaluation of natural medicine practices; the exploration, development and evaluation of new treatments for serious chronic diseases; the continued development of faculty research skills; and the training of students in research methods.

8. Professional Naturopathic Organizations


The AANP was founded in 1985 as the national organization representing licensed naturopathic physicians in the US. The association’s offices are located in Washington, DC and it has 38 affiliated state organizations around the country.
