Addressing Diversity - Public Health

Schools of public health are concerned with recruiting underrepresented minorities into their student population; however the biggest challenge is having a diverse faculty.

33.8% of students were members of minority groups

  • Asian, 12.0%
  • Black, 13.0%
  • Hispanic, 6.4%
  • Native American, 0.9%

Minority students constituted 25.2% of U.S. students in 1995 compared with 33.8% in 2004. In 2005, foreign nationals constituted 15.0% of the total student body.
